Superintendent of Schools

Superintendent’s Message:

I am incredibly honored and humbled to serve as the new Superintendent of Weld RE-5J School District and look forward to working with you to ensure that every student has a quality experience. My goals and values to provide students with a safe, nurturing environment and challenge them with real-world authentic learning experiences aligns beautifully with the goals set forth by the Weld RE-5J Board of Education and is a major reason that I applied for this position. 

I have been a resident of Northern Colorado for 27 years and have had several positions in Poudre School District. For the  past seven years, I was  the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools and during this time, I supported over 14,000 students annually, in addition to overseeing all of the district’s athletic programs. I started my career in Poudre School District as a special education teacher and for ten years worked with students who required extra support to find success in the classroom. Prior to moving to Northern Colorado, I spent five years as a high school soccer and basketball coach in a small town in Minnesota. My time as a special education teacher and a coach reinforced early in my career the importance of building and fostering individual relationships. As your Superintendent, I am committed to working toward a safe and high-quality educational experience for all students. 

I am delighted to become part of the Weld RE-5J family and am already working  with our staff and students to implement the District's vision to prepare students to be well-developed citizens. The goals and groundwork in place in the District are a great platform for our work ahead. I will work with all of our staff to make this learning a reality. I have shared an entry plan that will include a large amount of listening and learning with and from district stakeholders. I look forward to the collaboration over the next several months, sharing my journey and learning about yours. Remember, as we move forward, we are better together!
